The highest grade amethyst is known as the „Deep Russian” and even though it is extremely rare, its worth is still a great deal lower than that of high grade sapphires or rubies.

These days, amethyst is the birthstone for the month of February. It is also the stone traditionally assosciated with the sixth year anniversary. These are two great occasions to make an amethyst the focus of your gift giving.
